This is a pot-taster's selection, presented with no pretensions, but merely because it gave me pleasure first to read the poems and then to translate them. During my ten years in Catalunya I was also pleased to have had some brief contact with several of the poets, most notably Marià Manent, whose encouragement for my endeavor (several years before his death in 1988) emboldens me to finally present the work.
